While it is most certainly true that Syberia 3 is/was bugged out the ass, they have put some effort into patching it. People on Steam often complain when developers release DLC for buggy games becaues they're "working on DLC instead of fixing the game", but that's not really reflective of how development works. In the end, I think Syberia 3 should never have been released, because it's a poor attempt to bring the spotlight on a big point and click franchise, but by offering a buggy, boring, uninteresting low budget game with an uninspired badly written story, which is essential in a story-driven title.Ĭlick to shrink.DLC release schedules are usually decided long before a game releases. There's just one real good thing in the game, and it's the soundrack, done by Inon Zur. The final nail in the coffin is, instead of focusing on patch the game, Microids released a paid 5€ dlc for it (yeah, it was free for a limited time for the owners of the game, but it's now sold for 5€). You cannot even save the game when you want, since there's a checkpoint system, and this is ridiculous. So bugged Microids put on their site some savegames in case you get a gamebreaking bug, and it can happens way too often. Characters talk, you listen the full thing, and still their lips go for literally seconds.įinally the game is bugged. The lip sync is so bad it seems taken from '90 games, were lip sync was somewhat a new technology. If you add the fact some puzzles are also time based, and you need to accomplish several actions within a small time frame (ie the icebreaker puzzle), well, those are simply impossible to solve with a mouse. I wasn't able to go with keyboard+mouse only, because moving Kate around was painful, and even more painful was trying to solve puzzles were you need to rotate stuff, open something etc. Because both control systems are so bad I don't know how Microids managed to ship the game in this state. I was forced to use both the One pad to move around, and the mouse to solve some puzzles. We have stutters, microfreezes, characters skipping 's simply a mess, if you include the long loading times. Since she was rescued, Yukol basically oblige Kate to work for them and help to end the migration.Īnd here comes the twist: there is an evil doctor and a bad guy with an eye patch who don't want the yukol to migrate.įirst the doctor doesn't want Kate to leave the clinic she was brought in, and than when the new, evil character is introduced, we understand both those characters are against the yukol migration. Hans is probably dead, we understand later from a dialogue with the "new" Oscar, but Kate never gave an explanation on how or when. Hans Voralberg used to build automaton, but he was more of a wizard than an inventor, since Oscar was way too human to be just a robot. It was simple, but very charming and somewhat "magical" in the way every mechanism used to work in the game. Syberia franchise was one of the most brilliant point and click serie in 2000.
